Out of the Dark

Okay, some context.

A few weeks ago, I felt prompted by God to share my testimony. Between March 4th and today, my testimony has been read by over 7k people!

For the better part of the past couple of years, I was struggling with depression, anxiety, fear, and shame (all rooted in spiritual darkness). This struggle caused me to withdraw from the public eye that I had been standing in for many years as a founder (Black Girl In Om), wellness influencer (with hundreds of thousands of social media “followers”), speaker and practitioner connecting with my global community through my podcast, and various communities at events and curated experiences as well as holding space through yoga, meditation, and more.

Rosalyn is one of the people that opened my newsletter where I opened up about my struggle, as well as how I have been called out of it, and what I’m now doing (with God) and how I’m moving forward in faith. Rosalyn and I have personal relationship history. She was on the Black Girl In Om team years ago, supporting our mission of creating space for Black women and girls and shared her amazing spirit and gifts with intention. Since stepping away to focus fully on her own path as an entrepreneur, as well as family life, we exchanged a few messages and e-mails here and there, but nothing in-depth or substantial.

Until this month:

God is always on time! His plan indeed. We had a few very enthusiastic texts and voice memo exchanges and then, Rosalyn hit me with this (have a listen):

Amen. So, several voice memos later, here we are. We’re being obedient (seems to be the theme of the season) and moving forward with our first public conversation on our journeys back to an intentional relationship Christ, using the gifts and talents that God has gifted us with for God’s glory, and creating communities rooted in faith, wellness, and spiritual development.
